Speed record falls by 26 mph.
The Advanced Vehicle Engineering group of GMC Trucks has taken the E-production speed record away from Porsche at the Bonneville Salt Flats with a pickup truck.
After three days of record-setting runs, driver Don Stringfellow established a 197 mph top speed and a 194.770 average with the modified GMC S-15 mini pickup. And the GMC boys didn’t shave the record by mere tenths, but shattered it, topping the 171 mph mark Al Holbert set in a Porsche 928 S4 in 86 by 26 mph
