It’s a GMC Truck – International Speed Record

Syclone Pegasus III Land Speed Record

THE VEHICLE THAT JUST SET A NEW INTERNATIONAL SPEED RECORD IS NOT A PORSCHE, FERRARI OR LAMBORGHINI.

IT’S A GMC TRUCK

The specially modified S-15 Pickup that set the new two-way land speed record of 194.770 mph for a production-based vehicle.

You read it right. The new international speed record-setter doesn’t just have a lot of pickup. It actually is a pickup. A specially modified S-15. From GMC Truck, to be exact.

Created by the Advanced Vehicle Engineering Group at GMC Truck, this aerodynamically refined, 523-horsepower pickup recently scorched through the flying mile with an incredible two-way average speed of 194.770 mph, and a top speed of 197.530 mph. Shattering the previous record of 171.110 mph set in 1986 by a Porsche 928 S4. And forever leaving its mark upon the Bonneville salt, and the history books.

Of course, achievements like this mean a great deal to us at GMC Truck. But they really mean even more to you. Because in the end, this kind of advanced technology, forward thinking and enthusiasm goes a long way toward making the GMC Truck you can drive every day even better.

Look at it this way. Some of the world’s most advanced trucks already wear the GMC Truck name. And now, we’ve just given every other automotive manufacturer one more impossibly high standard to try to meet.
